Monthly Wrap-Ups

August Wrap-Up

Alright, here I am again trying out another month of wrapping up everything I’ve been doing the past month. Let’s go!

If you missed July’s wrap up, catch it here! After July was so hectic, I decided to slow it down a bit in August and just go with the flow. My month didn’t start off so great and that took me a while to bounce back from. Just when I thought things were going to be ok again, bam I got hit with yet another thing. Now at the halfway point of the month I’m wondering if it will ever look up? I’m totally ready to hit delete on August at this point. But alas, the final weeks approached without a hitch; thank you!

Currently Reading:
Carrie
Catching Fire
The Dark Days Pact

Continuing on with my Stephen King project… yes I’m still reading Carrie. Next month I hope to finish it!
I just recently started re-reading Catching Fire; I’m having a great time being back in that world!
I just started The Dark Days Pact today, I’m literally like 30 pages in and I have no opinions on the second book just yet.

What I read this month:

I read 9 books this month, the same as last month, so I seem to be pretty consistent. I’m happy with that!

Purple Hearts (Front Lines #3) by: Michael Grant
Try Not to Breathe by: Holly Seddon
This is Where it Ends by: Marieke Nijkamp
Blackhearts (Blackhearts #1) by: Nicole Castroman
Windwitch (The Witchlands #2) by: Susan Dennard
Blacksouls (Blackhearts #2) by: Nicole Castroman
The Darks Days Club (Lady Helen #1) by: Alison Goodman
The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus #2) by: Rick Riordan
In a Different Key: The Story of Autism by: John Donvan & Caren Zucker

I’m still trying to make my way through Bob’s Burgers, although I’ve barely watched any, I’m still at season 4. I have to say my TV watching this month has beeb horrible. Continuing with Castle Rock; there are only 2 episodes left! Also still watching season 5 of Elementary.

What I Watched this month:
Season 4ish
Season 2
Christopher Robin

Hotel Transylvania
The Story of the Weeping Camel

House of Flying Daggers

The Hunger Games
  • I continued on with my watchings of both Bob’s Burgers and Kim’s Convenience; I’m now all caught up on Kim’s and I’m kinda missing it. I find the show can be so relatable at times!
  • I got out to the movies this month! I went to see Christopher Robin the day after it came out. You can check out my review here. I don’t know what it is, but seeing that little stuffed Pooh brings me so much joy!
  • I couldn’t fall back to sleep one morning so I checked out Hotel Transylvania; I was told it was good, and it was! I’ll probably watch the other too in time.
  • I also continued with my Oscar movies. I watched The Story of the Weeping Camel; it sounds weird, it was a little strange, but highly captivating! I also saw House of Flying Daggers (which had me more invested than I thought I was going to be!)
  • Since I re-read The Hunger Games last month, I figured I’d re-watch the movies as well. You can find my review for the movies here. I just wanted to add in another two cents about the movie; after just reading the book and then watching the film it’s clear the directors tried really hard to stick to the book’s plot. For the most part they did an incredible job, everything was pretty much in the same order. Obviously there were a few differences for expositions sake. Things that Katniss told us in her thoughts in the book had to be shown somehow so there was extra dialogue, but it worked really well. This movie still holds up years later!

The Good Place: Season Two

Aside from my month being a real downer, I did have some good moments too! My friend who lives in New York came home to visit so we went out for dinner one night. We then went out for round two because one of my friends couldn’t join the first night, so we followed going out to dinner with going out for dessert!
I somehow managed to win four tickets to Wonderland (an amusement park)! I haven’t used them yet, but hopefully soon!

I went to a library event in the middle of the month. This is our library’s third annual After Hours Book Bash! I had a great time last year so I decided to go this year. A lot of mixing and mingling, they announced the winner to a book program that we call One Book, One Brampton where local authors submit their work and the readers pick a winner. There was a lady who did handwriting anaylsis; I swear I could listen to her talk forever, she was hilarious! They had line dancing lessons, which somehow I got roped into, ha! Then there were prizes! I didn’t win anything (I was 3 numbers off!) but it was still a good night!

I also got down to the Distillery District in downtown Toronto where me and my mom walked around, went shopping (I actually got some Christmas shopping started!) We had lunch at the Mill St. Brewery and it was a lovely afternoon!

I managed to go out for dinner again with my friends, since one of them is going back to England very soon. As soon as I finish getting this post up I will be heading out to dinner with my family before my brother goes off to school.

Semi-busy month, but I’m glad it’s over!

I hope you all had a fantastic month.

  1. Another great recap Meghan, and I’m glad you had a good August as well. 🙂 I need to see Christopher Robin at some point, not sure when I’ll get around to it but Winnie-the-Pooh was a childhood favourite of mine so that movie is a must. Also nine books is amazing to have crossed off your TBR list, I really hope you enjoyed The Son of Neptune as well (I love pretty much everything Rick Riordan has written!)
Great post, and I hope you have an amazing September as well. 🙂 ❤
